Left Hand

A funny note I am partially ambidextrous.

So, the left hand has many uses in popular culture, like the "left-hand man" and "hit him with the left" and ... others.
It goes without saying which one this piece pokes fun at.
Although, all jokes aside, one of the powerful things about this poem is the depth of emotion associated with the actions the narrator actually does.

Left Hand

I've done some pretty inglorious things with my left hand...
I hailed the cab that took me away from home
for the last time.
I dropped the pass that became the end
of my career.
I waved goodbye to the only friend
who was ever there.
And I was forced to let go, when it was time,
to end myself for the sake of others.
So don't ask me
what I'm doing with my left hand,
because you might not like what I say.
