A Guide to Quitting

This is one of the more concrete poems I've written, which relies less on metaphor and more on clever verbiage and descriptive language. I had a bad time at one of my jobs, and wrote to an assignment on describing a routine, and I filled the routine with emotion much in the same way I fill a pressurised basket of grounds with hot water. The resulting product is a fine shot of espressive poetry (all puns intended).

A Guide to Quitting

Grind.
Dose.
Pack.
Extract.
Fine.
Flows.
Stack.
Exact.
Line.
Goes.
Back.
Attacks.

They aren’t happy.
Waiting on me.
I’m not happy.
Making coffee.
For people that can’t see that I’m doing my best.
But yelling and screaming and breaking my focus.

Grind.
Dose.
Pack.
Extract.
Mind.
Closed.
Racked.
MAX.

Steam.
Queue.
Pump.
Serve.
Leave.
Brew.
Dump.
Reverse.
Me.
Do.
Chump’s.
Work.

They are lazy.
I am yeeted.
It makes me crazy.
But I'm defeated.
I am alone at the bar and the register.
Forced to do everything to help customers.

Steam.
Queue.
Pump.
Serve.
Breathe.
Dude.
Dump.
Work.
